DUBS THEE "NUBBINS".

For the CDP project I am fortunate enough to be a part of this semester, we are tackling injury prevention in the home and must speak to a multi-lingual and otherwise diverse audience. I have been developing some IKEA style diagrams to address specific instances of injury that can occur in the home, and I thought I might post my modest progress thus-far.

I have adopted this gray, genderless, raceless, and more or less ageless character into all of my diagrams and affectionately dubbed him “Nubbins” (inspired by his doughy construction and a particular episode of This American Life).

These are great! I love them! (Does he/she have some pudge in the last panel? So great!)

There is a little box of darker red where the two bars of the X intersect. Is that intentional? If not, that can be fixed my using the pathfinder panel to make them one image instead of two overlapping ones.

I think the images are great and are mostly easily understandable. I think that the slipping-in-the-bath one needs some movement lines (like in comics) to suggest the slipping. Also, the triangles with exclamation marks could be coloured yellow instead of red to more accurately suggest warning.

@Colin – Good call, I actually never noticed that! And yes, these are all still first round, there needs to be some refinement in pudge.

@Jacob – The bath slipping one is a bit lacking, probably because I just stole the Nubbins from the stairs. I am going to try and re-craft it such that lines are not necessary.

    Thanks for commenting homies.
