Beautiful book. I'd honestly buy it just because it's so damn pretty, but the content looks fantastic as well. If you ever do put it up for purchase, it would be an insta-buy for me.

Amazing blog! Is your theme custom made or did you download it from somewhere? A design like yours with a few simple adjustements would really make my blog shine. Please let me know where you got your design. Thanks

This is incredible - didn't take the time to read all of the comments here, but I wish you would put it into production!

Hey Andy,

Pretty cool stuff out there.
This was something I wanted to do for a long time, and I'm glad someone took the effort to do it.
I was pretty religious myself, quite sometime before, and it's sad how societies have diluted the real meaning of Religion, and what it was intended to do. People, or heads of the massive institutions of religion have misused faith, for power or whatever reason it may be.
I go back to the birth of each religion, and it's not really tough trying to understand what was intended. There is one clear and clean message, and it's common to every religion.
Even the Quran actually means to say that all Gods are common, and people have mistaken it for the only God being Allah.
There is a thin line between religion and spirituality, but that line is pretty darn dark enough. All it takes is a learnt mind to actually follow the essence, rather than stick to the impurities pumped into them.

I am still pretty religious, and I'm a hindu, not because I find it superior to any other religion, but only because I find it closer to my soul to follow. I love muslims, I love christians, and people from every other religion. But I *hate* and *despise* people who just take advantage of religion.

It's not a war of religions, it's not a war of science vs. religion. There is just a war because people need a reason to fight. That is the basis of human evolution. The fittest survive, and evolve-Darwin

Oh and I'm a designer as well, I just love your book, the colours and the fonts are perfect.

Guess this is a bit too much ;).

Have a nice day,
Prassanna

Andy,

Beautiful book. The design detail and craftsmanship are very impressive. I applaud your creativity with the subject matter.

As a christian, I can't say I disagree with your assessment in the book. Some very bad things have been done in the name of religion. This is unfortunate and gives religion a black eye. I don't believe most people are evil, because I reserve that title for killers, rapists, child molesters etc. I do however believe we as humans are instinctively flawed. Example. My 2 year old son has lied on a couple occasions to get what he wants. Does that mean he's not a good person? By no means. But it does mean he's flawed. Did we teach him to lie? Absolutely not. But we can teach him to tell the truth (even when it's not easy).

I do believe we can condition our minds and hearts to live "good" lives, but in the end we are (as the famous saying goes) only human. We will never be perfect, but we can try and achieve righteousness on this earth through (in my belief) the example of Christ.

I have a favorite quote that goes as follows:

I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.
-Mohandas Gandhi

Again... kudos.

Cheers,
Brad

@BlaX - Thank YOU for taking the time to "ramble"; it is always appreciated. It is nice to hear from someone who studies theology as well; there are a lot of varied voices getting in on this conversation, and I am honored to have such discussion on my humble little blog.

I think your work is amazing. I felt compelled to leave a comment after reading the comments for this book.

I fully agree that this book should be in production, and I would defiantly want a copy if it ever went on sale. Even if it wasn't as high quality as the one on display.

I also want to say that I was in awe of the description of your own faith, which seemed to be intentionally as irrational as most religion. It is a perfect description of how people should feel in my opinion. If people cared about others as much as they do their religion the Earth would be a much better place to live.

Now there are two things from Flip I wanted to address and feel should be commented on. Why are other religions bad? He, nor does anyone that makes those comments, never clarified that. The only thing I can ever make of it, is because it isn't his/her own religion. Now Flip mentioned "suicide cults" which are bad, and many Christian based, but says nothing for why the others would be as bad.

There is also the matter of the "there are no good people" comment Flip made. I know everyone seems to agree with you on the idea that people are inherently good, but didn't Flip say he was Christian? I was raise in a Christian home and went to church most of my life. As I understand what I have read in the Bible is that people are inherently good. It is the temptations given from Lucifer that can make a person evil, and in turn God that will save you from that evil (according to the Bible at least). So I wouldn't hold that comment, from one person, against religion. Most religions, and I do study theology, believe people are inherently good at their core. Even Lucifer himself was good to begin with, and held the position of the highest angel in heaven.

Thank you for letting me waste some of your free time with my rambling.

@Johnny - Thanks for the thoughtful comment. One of my favorite quotes from Ghandi is "I like your Christ. I do not like your Christians. They are so unlike your Christ.” Man certainly has made a mess of it.

its strange really. i'm a pastor and i don't disagree. religion is something im not very friendly with and has been used to a abuse power, lord over people and start wars throughout history. what i like about Jesus, is that was the opposite of who he was.
his way of dealing with religion was flipping tables at the local church and saying that they're completely wrong in their thinking. I understand people would take this love story and twist it into a religion to support their agendas, that it's really man who has made a mess of it.
but for me it's beautiful.

great design work.
