I hope 2008, in spite of its hardships, was a good year for all of you out there in internet land; may 2009 be even better!

Phase two of my bike re-sexification. The derailleurs, front brake, reflectors, and all other unnecessary bits have been removed and I finally got to put on my Wood handlebars from Ken Carroll. The stem is from what was my sisters bike when she was a very very small child, a bit of a frankenstein job. All I need to do now is get my wheel in the mail so I can lace up my Craigslist hub and put the 19t cog on there (right now I am running 14t in the back and I am simply not man enough to do so).

I can’t wait to get the saddle I am treating myself to on there.

For Christmas, I decided to build a Wine Rack from scratch for my good friend Josh Hepworth’s parents, who have always welcomed me into their lives. I looked at a lot of racks online for inspiration and eventually decided on this simple and elegant solution. It is made from Red Oak, purchased at my local Homies. The full “article” has more pictures and a simple plans so you too can do as I have done!

My mother was happy I turned our kitchen table into a gluing station, but the wood glue wouldn’t cure right in the sub-zero garage.

To all of you who celebrate Christmas, I hope yours is spectacular and spent with your friends, family, and loved ones. To everyone else, have a great holiday season (also with your friends, family, and loved ones), and I hope my terribly cute nephew makes you smile.

I will be busy doing absolutely nothing work related for the next few days, but I will be back posting before the New Year.

I traded an old Les Paul style guitar kit I built up about five years ago for this flip-flop hub and 19t freewheel cog today. An individual I contacted on Craigslist was nice enough to hold the hub and cog for a few weeks while I finished up school and got back to Pennsylvania. Nothing does more to renew my faith in humanity than random acts of kindness by strangers on the internet. All I need to get my hands on now is a 27″ 32 hole rear wheel to lace this bad boy to and I will be good to go. I updated my portfolio tonight with some older work. Some of it is “Fine Art” which I choose to keep intermingled with my design work. Though drawing is not what I am pursuing in my professional life, it is still important to me and can shed more light on my design work.
